UPCZ Men's / Ladies Ministries
Men's Ministries is a new ministry within UPCZ. The attendance at meetings has ranged from 100 to 200.
The purpose of this ministry is to Biblically strengthen the men in their position of leadership in their homes, family and church. The leadership of Christian husbands, fathers and sons is very important to the family, the church, and the world.
By equipping the men of the church to be leaders, there will be progress. Principles of leadership are passed by example and instruction from elder to younger, as from Elijah to Elisha, and from father to son, as from Paul to Timothy.
Training sessions, teaching, preaching and fellowship within Mens Ministries, helps to develop leadership qualities in the ministry and laymen of UPCZ.
Ladies Ministries of UPCZ is a very important part of the work of God in Zambia. One thing can be said of these ladies...they have a mind to work! Many times, the ladies of the Zambian church have far exceeded the expectations of the Abernathys.
A vital outreach of the Ladies Ministries is known as W.I.S.H. (Women in Spirit and Health). WISH is a continuing work among the ladies that reaches into the rural and urban areas of Zambia. Its purpose is to teach health prinicples that will keep ladies aware of the risks to their families, as well as Biblical principles that will encourage and keep them walking faithfully toward their heavenly goal. Members of the WISH Committee are Sis. Mable Daka, Pastor's wife, Sis. Eunice Mwanza, Pastor's wife, Sister Becky Zyambo, nurse, and Sister Edith Sakala.
During the Abernathys' last term, the ladies of Zambia contributed their time, strength and effort, and their finances to see the construction of Daughters of the King Centre. The ladies of the Lusaka Region (as well as many of the men) spent many Saturdays at the sight for this new building - bringing their own containers in order to fill in the foundation. They would make lines from where the sand was being dug to fill the containers and then the containers would be passed from lady to lady until it reached its destination. Many of these ladies had babies on their backs! You should have heard the singing and felt the presence of the Lord along with them while they were working for the Kingdom!
Daughters of the King Centre is a multi-purpose buildng and is a wonderful blessing to the Ladies Ministries work of Zambia.
